Tools

BioMob provides the following tools to help users find the information they need.

Integrated Taxonomic Information System (ITIS)

ITIS is a catalogue of common and scientific names and their synonyms of species of North America and the world.

Search result pages for individual species include the species nomenclature, synonyms, common names and the taxonomic hierarchy (genus, order, family, etc.). In addition, links to resources automatically search on the pertinent terms for the species you select. You can browse the ITIS catalogue on GBIF.

The catalogue is also available here.

Canadensys

Canadensys makes biodiversity information freely and openly available to everyone. We are a network of researchers, collectors, curators, information technologists, students, and educators that shares data on the occurrence and identity of plant, animal, and fungi, and other species in Canada.

Barcode of Life Data System (BOLD)

Bold is a cloud-based data storage and analysis platform developed at the Centre for Biodiversity Genomics in Canada. It consists of four main modules, a data portal, an educational portal, a registry of BINs (putative species), and a data collection and analysis workbench.
